I'm a 67 year old rockin' grandmother that adored this man. His talent was off the charts as was his HEART. I'll definitely be buying this long awaited book on his life.
Addiction and mental illness go hand in hand. Probably nothing nefarious with his death, other than the loss. In my mind, he is the all time greatest singer in rock & roll
It is strange that the body guard vanished and not a peep. I am not saying he did or did not commit suicide. I just find it all very strange. If his own band mates didn't notice him that far off or concerned. So many unanswered questions without closure. Anything is possible, evil exists in so many forms.
I love your review and your reverence for Chris Cornell. I take issue only with your suggestion that his death was an utter mystery. It is now well documented that he was overprescribed (by an out of state doctor) increasing doses of benzodiazapines without close monitoring, as the medical standard of care requires. Benzos are incredibly disruptive and addictive, insinuating themselves into the nervous system and messing with judgment, mood, self awareness. He died while in the grip and under the horrible influence of those drugs. His prescribing doctor totally failed him. He had so much music and living left to give, and never would have left his wife and kids that way, had he been aware or himself. thank you.
